The AUTO-SLED is a portable automated tool designed to effectively flatten materials, particularly plain sawn slabs of wood. The machine smoothly glides along a workbench or rails, serving as a guide for a router equipped with a surfacing bit to ensure a uniformly flat surface on the top side of the material. To initiate the process, the AUTO-SLED starts at one end of the material and gradually progresses down, adhering to the speed and cutting width set by the operator. Once configured and set into motion, this tool can work independently without constant supervision. It automatically halts its operation upon reaching the end of the material or in the event of a jam, guaranteeing safety and ease of use.
